Sweater Sizes to Make
Although this knitting pattern has been labelled as a kids sweater pattern, there are instructions to make it for babies from ages 3 (6, 12, 18, 24) months and for 4 (6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16) year olds.
Knitting Skills Required
You will need to know how to
- cast on and off
- how to do garter stitch ( knit every row)
- do a right-leaning decrease ie knit 2 stitches together
- do a left-leaning decrease – ssk – slip slip knit
- pick up and knitting stitches
Pattern Design
The pattern is designed with 4 flat knitted panels. A back and a front panel, and the two sleeves which are then sewn together to make up the garment. The neck line is finished off by picking up stitches and then 4rows of knit 2, purl 2 ribbing is done to finish off the neck.
This kids knit sweater pattern is the perfect project for new knitters to make as it gives them a chance to put into practice several basic skills they have learned.
