Womens Tunic Knitting Pattern

I like the fact that this women’s tunic knitting pattern is worked up in a chunky yarn, which means it will be a relatively quick knitting project.

I also like that the design is a bit longer than the others I have seen. In the autumn and winter months, when I am doing things like gardening and clearing out, I find I need to have my arms free, but the rest of me needs to be warmer. So this garment is just perfect.

This design which is from Debbie Bliss’ pattern collection is worked up in the Irish moss stitch.

Use Chunky Yarn

The pattern recommends you use Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky Yarn This yarn has an inbuilt twist to it which will enhance the look of the Irish moss stitch. It’s also very soft, having in its makeup 55 per cent wool and 12 per cent cashmere.

The balls are 50g and there are 23 shades to choose from. You will need from 12 to 17 balls to complete the project, depending on your size.

Needles Sizes?

As you would expect, you will need 5.5mm (US Size 9) and 6mm (US Size 10) single point straight knitting needles to go with the chunky weight of yarn. I love the smooth feel of the wood in these KnitPro Symfonie needles.

The design is aimed at intermediate-level knitters, but there is no reason why a confident beginner who is willing to learn what is required will not be able to cope with this project. For those in that category, it is a chance to learn new skills. The YouTube platform is what I use when I get stuck and need to find out how to do a certain technique.

The best feature of this design is that it is done in big needles and thick yarn, so you see progress quickly!
