Each figure in this collection comes with its own set of instructions on how to knit them and then also details on how to sew them up. As they are only around 15 cm tall (6 inches) they can be made up very quickly!

The yarn used throughout is a double-knit weight yarn. As you can imagine, you will need quite a few different shades to make these colourful characters. However, due to their smaller size, you will find you only need about 5 to 10g of each shade. It is quite likely that you’ll have oddments lying around your home that can be used up. Even if you do end up having to purchase yarn, you can use up the leftovers to make another figure.

The figures, at first sight, look quite complex, but they are not, as only the basic skills are needed. You will need to know how to

  • how to cast on and off,
  • how to knit and purl,
  • how to increase and decrease

There is a list of abbreviations that will help you follow the patterns.

Another useful feature included at the end of the book is the different Terms used in the UK and the US.

The best thing about this book is that you get such a big variety of knitting projects to make. They are each made quite quickly and will provide endless hours of playtime fun for young children. These characters can also be used as a form of an educational toy, as youngsters can learn new words from them.
