Easter Duck Holding a Chocolate Egg – Knitting Pattern

I wanted a project for an Easter toy that was a bit bigger than most of the little ducklings that hold the smallest eggs.

I came across this knitting pattern for an Easter duck with a chocolate egg. I like it because it is a bit different from most of the other projects that I have seen.

What Yarn to Use?

You will need to use double knitting yarn.

  • 25g in yellow
  • 15g in white or pale green and orange
  • small bits of black for the facial features

The amounts are small so you may have enough in your stash. If you have to purchase the colours to make this toy then you could think about making a second duck or choose another toy to make with the leftover yarn.

Needles Size?

You will need a pair of 3mm single-point straight needles to complete this project.

What Other Things are Needed?

A small amount of toy filling is needed to finish him off.

What Skills are Required To Make this Easter Duck?

You will need to know (or be willing to find out ) how to do –

This project has been labelled as an intermediate level pattern. Don’t be put off by that term – if you know how to do the stitches needed – which are the basic knit and purl, and the basic increase and decrease stitches. Even if you are not sure, go ahead and watch the video on the links to learn, then make the toy! I love to find patterns that have a new stitch for me to master.

I just love that this pattern is somewhat different from others and can be made up from small leftover bits of yarn.
